Street & Utility Project – Oak Street Updates

As an extension of the 2025 Street & Utility Improvements project, the City has
worked with Rural Development and expanded the project to include Oak
Street between 2nd Avenue NE and 3rd Avenue NE.

The work scope for Oak Street includes the reconstruction of the sanitary sewer
main, water system, service laterals, the street, and ditch grading on the south
side of Oak Street.

Schumacher Excavating from Zumbrota will continue their contract with the City
and do the construction work.  They plan to move into the project site on Monday, May 11th.

The first items that will be completed are grinding the street and setting up a temporary water
system.

You will have access to your property each night and on weekends. Access during
the day can and will be limited based on the work being done that day.
Construction generally will occur between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM Monday through
Friday with work happening on an occasional Saturday.

Notes about the temporary water system:
• The main lines will be a 2-inch pipe and service branches will be a 1-inch pipe
with a garden hose connection to the house.
• PLEASE DO NOT touch or attempt to move the temporary water lines.
• PLEASE DO NOT run your mower over the temporary water lines.
• The Contractor will berm the water lines at each driveway so residents can
access their driveway. It’s OK to drive over the bermed water line.

Construction Schedule Update
The Contractor’s tentative schedule has utility work commencing for several
weeks with blacktop planned for the second half of June. More information on
the schedule will be shared as it’s available.

Contacts
The City will have a Resident Project Representative (RPR) (aka “Project
Inspector”) on site during construction. Contact information for the RPR will be
forwarded when it is available.
