Dog licenses are due and issued annually. Cost is $10.00/3 years per license which we try to coordinate at the same time that your dog gets his/her rabies shots and City Ordinance #3-1 requires proof of rabies vaccine documentation on each dog licensed. Our renewal date is May 1st of each year, however you may obtain a license any time during the year. There is a fine of up to $100 for any unlicensed dog in the City of Mazeppa. Call City Hall at 843-3685 with any questions & thank you for being a responsible pet owner.

It is open the first Saturday of each month from 8am-10am. The end of fall and the first of spring usually have extra Saturdays open. These will be publicized and there are always special events written on your monthly water/sewer bills.

You can either mail your payment, drop your payment at First State Bank of Red Wing – Mazeppa Office, or use the drop box at City Hall located just outside our office (it’s actually located with an arrow on the picture of City Hall under the “City Hall info” tab on our website!). Payment due dates are always listed on each water/sewer bill. They come due on the 29th of each month. I also try to put City events on the extra line on your water/sewer postcards so check them each month. If you have a past due balance, one of your information lines will be tagged with a past due notice!

Mazeppa Daze is held each year on the 2nd weekend of July. A parade is held on Friday night, along with a street dance, food vendors, and a mini-display of fireworks. Saturday starts with a flea market in the Lions Park, softball tournaments, volleyball tournaments, Lions Chicken BBQ, misc. events, food vendors, and an amazing fireworks display at dusk, followed by another dance at the Herb Vik Athletic Field. Our fireworks display has been called “best you’ve ever seen” by hundreds and our small town of 842 expands dramatically on this night!

All Council meetings are always open to the public and the meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm in the Mazeppa City Hall chambers. Agendas are posted prior to the meeting at City Hall, Post Office, and the First State Bank of Red Wing-Mazeppa office.

We recommend that you always contact City Hall – (507)843-3685 – prior to any building. All building must meet the MN State Building Codes. Before you build, you want to make sure you meet all the setbacks for City zoning regulations as well. Reroof, Reshingle, Air-Conditioning/Furnace Install, Hot Water Heaters (gas), & Window replacement permits all have set fees and have a separate permit process. All of these can be downloaded here. Fencing does not need a permit if under 6’ tall.
